Will ONDC replace Zomato and Swiggy?

ONDC stands for Open Network for Digital Commerce.

Recently, the ONDC caught eyes of people after some of them spotted grocery and food delivery services on the Open Network for Digital Commerce.

I’ve seen many influencers comparing price of food items between Zomato/Swiggy and ONDC. After doing the same, I found out that ONDC is around 30% cheaper than Zomato and Swiggy.

But does that mean ONDC can replace Zomato and Swiggy?

Here’s the problem-

I ordered Burger from ONDC and it was definitely cheaper than other delivery platforms, but it took 1:30 hours to deliver a burger. I opened the parcel and found out that the burger is cold.

Well, It is early days yet. In the early days, Swiggy, Zomato also used to be a little late. So, even then, there were teething level problems.

It is interesting to see a rival network starting to come in and I am very interested to find out how the economics works also.

Of course, Zomato is a listed player so it will directly affect them as well.
