Soundless footage of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, the leader of the secessionist state of Biafra in Niamey, the capital city of Niger, after agreement had been reached under the auspices of the six-nation Organisation of African Unity committee on Nigeria for peace talks between the warring sides in the Nigerian Civil War.
Ojukwu, a former Lt. Colonel in the Nigerian Army and a Colonel (later General) in the Biafran Army, arrived in Niamey dressed in camouflaged fatigues and a cockcaded cap.
His terms for peace were:
1. An immediate cessation of fighting.
2. The removal of Nigeria's economic blockade of Biafra.
3. The withdrawal of troops behind the pre-war boundaries.
Nigeria's condition for a ceasefire was for Biafra to renounce secession.
