What is the difference between a crush and falling in love

Lots of times, people interchange the word crush for love; and this happens a lot. It’s very easy to use one in place of the other, but if you really want to get to the depth of your feelings for a person, then knowing which is which can be very helpful.

So the question is, what is the difference between a crush and love? Or is there any difference at all?

Crushes are short, love hardly isn’t
For starters, having a crush is very similar to being infatuated with a person, and infatuation doesn’t actually mean love in the long run. Having a crush can be described as having a brief intense feeling or infatuation about someone; it often happens that this feeling is short lived. They come and go pretty fast. But when you are in love with someone, it does run a pretty long course.

Feelings come quick
When you develop a crush, it usually comes with a strong intensity. Some call it love at first sight, but it rarely ever is. But with love, the feelings most time develop over time.

Crushes are about temporary infatuation, love is about soul bonding
You tend not to care a damn about the rights and wrongs concerning the life of your crush, but if you are in love, everything right in their life makes you happy, and everything wrong makes you sad.

A crush is an obsession, but love requires commitment
Despite the intense feelings that come with having a crush, it is nothing more than infatuation which breeds obsession. Love on the other hand requires a boat load of commitment; it goes beyond having deep and intense feelings, if it’s going to work between you and the other person, then commitment is the key.

A crush is perfection personified
When you crush on a person, often times it’s because of your perception of which you envision in the person you are crushing on. Can you remember any moment or instance where your crush wasn’t the perfect man or woman? Sure you do. But with love, they don’t have to be the perfect person, but you learn to live with their imperfections, and this defines your relationship.

Crush is based on physical attraction
Often times we develop a crush because of the physical attributes of a person. You don’t know them, but you sure can see them.

Crush could bring about an irrational behavior
It’s not that love doesn’t make a person do crazy or irrational things, but with a crush, it’s way more. Having a crush has led to stalking, irrational thinking and obsessive behavior.

Love is magic… crushes are fairy tales
You already know fairy tales are fictional, but magic is definitely real.
