Summary of "The Art of SpeedReading People"
How to Size People Up and Speak Their Language
by Paul D. Tieger & Barbara Barron-Tieger
• If you learn to “SpeedRead” personalities, you can talk to people on their own terms.
• Each personality has four “dimensions”: You are either an “Introvert“ or an
“Extravert,” a “Sensor” or an “Intuitive,” a “Thinker” or a “Feeler,” and a “Judger”
or a “Perceiver.”
• Being among groups of people generally energizes extraverts. Introverts usually
prefer one-on-one, more in depth interactions.
• Sensors pay attention to facts and details. Intuitives are more interested in
possibilities and understanding the “big picture.”
• Thinkers are logical and analytical; feelers are more sensitive and empathetic.
• Judgers tend to be organized and decisive, whereas Perceivers enjoy keeping their
options open.
• Depending on the combination of these traits, you are a “Traditionalist,” an
“Experiencer,” a “Conceptualizer” or an “Idealist.”
• Traditionalists are the most responsible of the personality types; idealists are the
most empathetic.
• Experiencers are spontaneous, free spirits, and conceptualizers are strategic,
objective decision makers.
• Your type is inborn – much like being born either a “righty” or a “lefty.”
