Patterns, logic, data, experience, the past... these things do not exclude creativity, or leaps of faith. Quite often they actually form the platform from which creativity leaps...

Without them, there would be nothing to push off from.

To argue that logic/data and creativity are separate and distinct is a bit like arguing your head is separate from your body.

When you don't KNOW what comes next, or needs to come next, because the chain of logic or the pattern has run it's course, THEN you need to be creative.

Then you need to extrapolate, make assumptions, guess, believe, intuit... call it what you want... but you have to do something different to find something new.

Once you have that idea, then you need to flash back into logic and test it, plan it, roll it out or you have nothing.

It's not that creativity is logic-less. It's that, to be creative, you need to be able to switch from one to the other and back again effortlessly.

Maybe this is why less creative people feel nervous around highly creative people... that back and forth can be discombobulating to witness... like someone is alternately sane and mad in between breaths.

We're not, it's just how it works.
