Watch APJ Abdul Kalam Is A Man of Simplicity. Messages condoling the death of Kalam started pouring in soon after the news spread. Politicians, sports icons and celebrities from the film industry posted their condolence messages on social media. Kalam, 84, collapsed during a public lecture at IIM Shillong.
Kalam (83) took ill and collapsed at around 6:30 PM at the function. He was rushed to Bethany hospital in Nongrim hills area of Shillong. Doctors tried to revive him but failed to do so. Army doctors were also called but they declared him dead due to a cardiac arrest.
