Comparison of larger power tubes instead of the stock 6v6. The amp puts out about 10W with these tubes, and I installed a switch to change the cathode bias and another speaker jack to match the impedance better when running these. See my other video for an explanation of the mods: [ Ссылка ]

The EL34 is a modern Electro Harmonix tube, and the 5881 is actually a vintage Tung Sol 6L6-WGB. I'm using a parts caster start, and I really like both types of tubes. Interestingly, I didn't really like the EL34 as much with my tele, as the midrange sounded a bit honky or congested at certain settings.

The recording is a mix of a Shure SM57 and an MXL R40 ribbon mic.
