In late 2020, I had the chance to accompany a team of oceanographers from the University Of Hamburg on the FS Meteor, one of Germany’s main research vessels, on a journey to the North Atlantic.
This 17-minute documentary explores the connection between ocean currents and our planets climate, shows how life feels like on a 4-week journey at sea as the scientist doing the hard work of measuring the effects of climate change.
Specifically, this cruise collected data about the overflows, the exchange of cold salty water on the sea floors, between the Artic and the Atlantic Ocean. This is part of the circulation system that affects the climate in Northern Europe.
This was a very special experience to me, learning about such a complex and interesting topic, interacting with the crew and living with the scientists on a ship for such a long time, finding friends and great moments.
Thank you so much to everyone who helped me on this long journey, from start to finish.
