Ethnic Albanian sources said one K-L-A fighter was killed and three were wounded, including an officer, in the clashes that began on Wednesday night.
The Serb Media Center in Pristina reported "groups of armed Albanian extremists" attacked police positions in Zociste with automatic weapons and mortars, wounding one policeman.
The state-run Tanjug news agency said there were clashes between police and "terrorists" - meaning the K-L-A.
On other fighting the Albanians' Kosovo Information Center said Serb forces shelled the village of Pantina, about 17 miles northwest of Pristina, on Thursday.
However none of the reports could be independently confirmed.
Meanwhile, as fighting continues, French President Jacques Chirac has told his Russian counterpart the United Nations may need to order military intervention to curb fighting.
