Hi there! This is an Esophagram and Upper GI demo/script to say to a patient before they start the procedure. I did my simulation with double contrast. But the demo can always be modified for single contrast.

Key points to go over with your patient:
-Introduce yourself
-Have patient change into gown and remove any metal in region of interest
-Confirm patient name and DOB
- If female, ask if chance of pregnancy
-Ask for any known allergies
-Ask if any surgeries in region of interest
-Ask what brought them into hospital or clinic
-Explain exam and that doctor ordered it for them
-Explain crystals purpose and avoid burping (if double contrast exam)
-Explain barium, its consistency, and why is it used
-Radiologist will be present, start upright then in the bed for more images
-Positioning may be done
-Live images/fluoro will be used
-After care instructions, drink water, be aware of poop color change for 48-72 hours
-Results will go to referring doctor
-End with open questions
