Violent gusts of wind have caused severe damage in Telgte, east of Münster (North Rhine-Westphalia). According to the city, trees fell in an industrial area on Friday and federal highway 51 had to be closed. People were warned via social media to stay at home. According to initial reports from local media, there were no injuries.
The fire brigade was on a major operation, the city's public order office said. Buildings suffered massive damage and a photovoltaic system was swept off a roof. The fire brigade requested support from forces from the Warendorf district and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief.
