Key Learnings:
"Imaginary Audience" is a term coined by Child Psychologist, David Elkind. The "Imaginary Audience" refers to a state where a young adult imagines and believes that multitudes of people are enthusiastically listening to or watching him or her.
In todays ego centric culture many of us adults are suffering from this condition too, we have an inaccurate perception our own reality.
We think other people are more concerned about our affairs then they actually are. We think they are WATCHING us and THINKING and TALKING about us.
This can become dangerous because it stop us from doing the things that we want to do, things that we believe in doing because we are afraid failing in front of "imaginary audience".
When we think the world is watching us and our every move, watching our failures and our successes it feels a little too dangerous to show up.
But in reality the stakes her low. There is no audience, its imaginary. There is no one to perform for there is just work that needs to be do done and lessons that need to be learnt.
