On this hike in Ocala National Forest I came across a hiker Sheldon Spencer and thankfully I did. He appeared to be a little lost and dehydrated and was wondering how to get back to the trailhead. I could see he was kind of disoriented initially when we met. When he started out on this hike he had no water with him or a map, just his camera. The temps were in the 90's on this day. He wasn't sure which way to go so I gave him some water and walked him back to the trailhead. He was really great to meet though and glad that our paths crossed! He enjoys photography and traveling around the world to various sites. He was here visiting Florida and taking in some of the scenic nature and wildlife along this trail in the forest. He also enjoys history so it was nice to share a lot of the history from this area with him. Thank you Sheldon and best of wishes to you my friend stay safe out there! Keep on exploring!
*Always bring water and fluids with you to keep hydrated, no matter how long of a hike because you never know what can happen out there. Ocala National Forest is a big area with many marked and unmarked trails and it can be easy to get turned around and lose your sense of direction.
