A protest against ongoing military operations and curfews in southeastern Turkey has ended with clashes.

Water cannon and tear gas were used against a crowd of demonstrators in the city of Diyarbakir.

The military says it is targeting what it calls armed militants from the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party or PKK.

But there has been growing concern about the operations over civilian deaths and the crippling effects of the curfews

In Diyarbakir, some parts have been under a 24-hour curfew since December.

A fragile peace process fell apart between the government and the PKK over the summer.
