Day 321 of my daily video posting project. I have been working on this project since November 2023--learning and posting a video of new piano music every day!
This video is a moderately slow swing version of "Lavender Blue (Dilly Dilly)" from "So Dear To My Heart". The music was written by Eliot Daniel and the words were written by Larry Morey. This jazz arrangement can be found in Jazz Piano Solos Volume 51: Disney Favorites.
The music for Lavender Blue was also featured in one of the live action movies of Cinderella (2015) starring Lily James. This slow swing version has lots of parallel seventh chords in the right hand which are tricky when strung together. (I was grateful that the tempo was given as moderately slow!) The rhythm has a nice lilt to it that gives a nod to it's "folk-tune-like" origins.
