STORYLINE:
British Prime Minister Tony Blair has left Russia after a two day visit for talks with President Vladimir Putin.
The main subject for the two leaders was Iraq and Russia's seeming reluctance to back the American hardline attitude towards President Saddam and the readmission of weapons inspectors.
However after hours of talks with Blair, Putin stopped short of coming on board with Britain and the United States in their push for a new resolution setting tough terms for cooperation with inspectors, whom Iraq invited to return last month.
Throughout the growing tensions over Iraq, Russia has called for the quick return of inspectors, who have been absent since 1998, based on existing Security Council resolutions.
