In this video you will learn about the Rib Cage Assessment that we provide at Pelvicore Rehab.
Why is your rib cage important? Rib cage mobility plays an integral part in our respiratory system. The respiratory diaphragm, the muscle for breathing works synergistically with our pelvic floor. Therefore, in order to have optimal pelvic health we need good rib mobility so the diaphragm that sits right beneath the rib cage can interact with the pelvic floor.
Many people are stuck in inhalation, with the ribs flared. This affects deep core efficiency. in order to improve rib mobility when people are "stuck" in inhalation we train full exhalation/rib closure.
Make sure you are breathing correctly with full exhalation by aiming for your exhalation to be twice as long as your inhalation.
To train for rib mobility or rib closure, cross your arms and get your fingertips on the sides of your ribs as you inhale.
At Pelvicore Rehab, we take a total body approach. Why is this important? In order to get LONG TERM healing we need to treat what is DRIVING the pain
Remember, sometimes the cause of pelvic pain is not always the pelvis.... your pain may be triggered by your nervous system, your legs, or your gut health! So make sure you have an expert team behind you that will fully relieve your pain.
