This sought after 5dr estate model boasts 485 litres of luggage capacity and is powered by a frugal, yet powerful 2.2 litre turbo-diesel powerplant with 5 speed tiptronic automatic gearbox. There is no denying that this is a handsome machine with its metallic coachwork and muscular lines "elongated by the swooping estate roofline. We took this car in part exchange from an elderly owner who was only covering 1000 miles a year in this car. The car is an absolute credit to him and is one of the cleanest and best presented examples I have seen in some time. Inside the Mercedes is well built and very well laid out, with climate controlled air-conditioning complete with separate controls for passenger and driver. The cloth seats in this model are free from wear and the whole interior has the look of a well cared for car. The previous owner of this car looked after it meticulously and I did not even need to clean it before we took the photos. As you can hopefully see the car is immaculate apart from a couple of very small touch ins the most visible of which is on the N/S rear bumper corner as seen in our walk around video (If you cant see this please let me know and I will be happy to forward it to you). Under that long sculpted bonnet lies a 2.2 litre CDI BLUE EFFICIENCY turbo-diesel engine which produces 134 bhp and gives the C-Class 127 mph performance. Mercedes claim a combined fuel consumption of 43 mpg which is easily achievable on a steady run. Out on the open road the C-Class is graceful and smooth. The engine is extremely refined and offer excellent performance thanks in part to a sensational 270 n/m of torque, produced throughout the rev range. The end result is a car which performs effortlessly and always has ample power on tap for safe overtaking. Mercedes auto gearboxes have always been among the best in the industry and this is no exception. Of course, in true Mercedes fashion it still cruises effortlessly and offers you superb comfort, it's just that with this latest model it's not afraid to have a little fun - This model was the first time I actually preferred the drive on a C-Class over the equivalent BMW 3 series. The driving position is excellent and visibility is superb - Its an easy and rewarding car to drive, and feels as though it has been built to last. With ABS brakes and ESP stability and traction control the C-Class is not just a pretty face - it offers superb handling and roadholding which are guaranteed to please the keen driver, as well as those who want comfort and luxury. I love the small details which adorn this car. There is a multi-function steering wheel with controls for the trip computer and CD stereo system as well as automatic headlamps and rain sensitive wipers. I particularly enjoyed this cars cruise control which helps provide the C-Class with the ability to cover long distances in complete relaxation.
