How To Avoid Essential Oil Toxicity
As with anything you consume, it is always important to ensure that essential oils are used in appropriate doses in order to avoid toxicity. Toxicity refers to the point at which a substance becomes harmful or damaging to your body.
Remember, seemingly harmless substances like water, vitamins, and minerals (substances that are vital to life) can all be toxic when consumed at an inappropriate dose that your body can’t process fast enough or fully. While essential oils have the potential for toxicity, the toxic dose of an essential oil is always far above the recommended appropriate use. The most accurate dosage will depend on a number of factors such as your age, height, weight, gender, plant type, quality of the oil, brand being used, and what the essential oil is being diluted with.
The brand is important to consider since most store bought ones locally or online are not approved for internal use, have contaminants, fillers, pesticides, herbicides, and most commonly, alcohol solvents. This is why I’ve created so many educational videos on understanding the benefits and uses of essential oils properly so you can have a more positive experience with them each and every time.
