Repotting tomato seedlings is just too much work for me! A few years ago I was looking for an easier way and came across this method of planting tomato seeds indoors. It's so much easier!
Steps:
1. Set up a try ready with 18 4 inch by 4 inch pots.
2. Fill each pot with just a little bit of damp seed starting soil and press it down (I add two large tablespoons to fill about 1/4 of the pot).
3. Position a couple of tomato seeds in the center of each pot.
4. Cover them with another tablespoon of seed starting soil and press down.
5. Place in the greenhouse or on the seed starting shelves.
After the seeds germinate and are about an inch tall, thin to one seedling per pot by cutting the other one with scissors. Then, as the seedling grows keep adding seed starting soil around it until the pot is filled.
Let it grow to about 15 inches. Stem needs to be about a pencil thickness before transplanting.
