Billy Monama in partnership with City of Joburg presents a special a 5-day workshop based on Monama’s forthcoming tutorial book – Introduction To South African Guitar Styles Vol.1 which took place between 8 – 12 June 2021 from 10am to 2pm only at Joburg Theatre, Lesedi (formally known as Fringe).These five day workshop focused on the ground-breaking and distinctive role of South African Guitar Music that Billy Monama has been conducting research on as a Performing Guitarist, music student and later a Teacher and as well as from spending time with elderly South African Guitar Masters, has come to a realizatdion that the uniquely South African style of playing Guitarist fast disappearing.

Billy Monama patiently presents his groundbreaking study of South African guitar styles through practical demonstrations of stylistic features and unique techniques that characterize our music over time. This comes from a rich research and unique in its novelty that will enrich music education in South Africa and the world immensely.
