China and the United States have made major progress in the bilateral relations after US President Trump took office, thanks to the efforts from both sides, said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi , adding that he hoped the two sides would translate the promise of enhancing mutual trust and cooperation into action.
The Chinese Minister made the remarks while meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Saturday.
It is Tillerson's first visit to China after he took office. During the two-day visit from March 18-19, he will discuss with Chinese officials on such subjects as trade, investment and other areas for cooperation and the challenges the two sides are facing.
Tillerson said he was delighted to be in Beijing with the opportunity to conduct discussions with the Chinese side.
At the meeting, Wang and Tillerson also exchanged views on arranging a meeting between the presidents of the two countries and exchanges at other levels.
