We visited the youngest national park in California, the Pinnacles National Park. This park is small compared to the other national parks but is as spectacular.
Here are some reminders before visiting Pinnacles National Park:
1.) The park has two entrances, the west and the east entrance near Hollister. The west entrance is steep and narrow — avoid this entrance if you are bringing an RV, trailer, or large vehicle to the park.
2.) Entrance fee is $30 per car, $25 for motorcycles, and $15 for bicycles and walk-ins. If you are a disabled veteran, you can avail yourself of the lifetime access pass to any national park.
3.) If you want to camp inside the park, the slots are minimal, so book in advance. If you can't get a camping spot inside the park, we recommend camping at Hip Camp, about 1.8 miles from the east entrance.
4.) The parking spots at the trailheads are very limited. We recommend getting there as early as possible to get a spot, or park near the visitors center and take the shuttle bus.
5.) The trails are amazing but some areas are not shaded, so make sure to bring sunscreen and lots of water to stay hydrated and of course, bring some snacks.
6.) The trails have loose gravel and can be slippery, so we recommend wearing a pair of shoes that have a good grip.
