It might be a tad hyperbolic to categorize the Triennial "Generation" shows at the New Museum as the most influential showcase for young artists in New York, but not by much. Curated by Eungie Joo, this iteration features thirty-four artists, artists groups, and temporary collectives. Despite a paucity of painting, and with an obvious curatorial slant towards social activism and conceptual "new media", there is nonetheless a group of full blown sculptural works and video that present a hopeful view of this generation's commitment to traditional artistic forms.
