So as it should be nobody expected the Alpha Legion were next. When I started writing songs for this project I came to the conclusion that a XXth legion song wouldn’t work and I was not going to force one. About a year later I was re-reading Horus Rising and the opening line “I was there the day” + the lodge saying “I can’t say” stuck with me. I wrote down “I was there the day and what that is I cannot say”. That was all it took and the lyrics just flowed out. Out of all my songs release this might be favourite. The lyrics and music follows the concept of twins. The two guitars in the intro, the unison guitar + keyboard solos and lots of backing vocals repeating the same lyrics. Musically it's inspired by Sonata Arctica, Dragonforce, Children of Bodom, Blind Guardian, Firewind, too many bands to list!!
There’s a number of ways to interpret the POV but I like the idea it’s Alpharius on one side “I want for nothing” and Omegon on the other finishing the sentence “I care for not”. At times they are in agreement finishing each others sentences, other times they disagree and sometimes they contradict each other.

*Lyrics:*
Verse 1:
I was there the day
What that is I cannot say
For I am bound
To see this through
My duty will prevail
I want for nothing
I care for not
The growing shadow on your shoulder
The puppet master
The beholder
Chorus:
Let the hydra rise
Out of the ashes
Atop the maelstrom
Beneath the madness
We are the beginning
We will ensure the end
The sears of eternity
The crux in the path of divinity
Verse 2:
We swear allegiance
But where we stand
I cannot say
Are we of one mind
Or has the serpent lost it's way
Under a cloak of fear
The truth it will appear
But you will be far too late
To see the folly of your ways
Interlude:
Purge out the weakness
From stem to the core
Inject the venom
And curate the dance once more
For the future
And the prosperity of man
As the shadows lengthen
Surely know you understand
