(14 Feb 2019) Thousands of students and adults across Florida are holding a moment of silence to honor the 17 people killed one year ago at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.
More than 1,000 Florida schools were pausing all work at 10:17 a.m. to remember the 14 students and three staff members slain last Valentine's Day.
One year after 17 were killed inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, students return to class with heavy hearts and tears down their cheeks.
Many Stoneman Douglas students arrived wearing the burgundy #MSDStrong T-shirts that have become an emblem of the tragedy.
Outside, clear plastic figurines of angels were erected for each of the 14 students and three staff members killed.
"I miss you, I love you, your brother misses you, your mom and your dad miss you, all your fans miss you. And hopefully I'll see you again in heaven." Said Liam Kiernan. Speaking about his friend and victim Gina Montalto. "It hurts that this is going to be a part of us for the rest of our lives, but it's up to us to make it better."
School officials said many students did not show up to class, out of those who did, many laid flowers in the front of the school.
