A Short History:
"The Shadow of Your Smile," is also known as "Love Theme from The Sandpiper." The music was composed by Johnny Mandel and the lyrics were written by Paul Francis Webster. The song was introduced in the 1965 film, The Sandpiper, with Tony Bennett on vocals and a trump solo by Jack Sheldon. Johnny Mandel also arranged and conducted his own version. Other versions of the song were also released by Astrud Gilberto, Wes Montgomery, Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis and more.
