STORYLINE:
The lawyer representing Radovan Karadzic on Thursday insisted the former wartime Bosnian Serb leader was captured last week and not on Monday as reported by the authorities.
"We have evidence and three witnesses who were there on the 18th (of July). Someone will have a lot of explaining to do about why they lied to us and the world public about the date of Radovan Karadzic's arrest," he told AP Television.
Serbian officials say Karadzic was captured in Belgrade on Monday and is awaiting extradition to the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands.
Vujacic, however, insisted his client was captured last Friday on a public bus in a Belgrade suburb, then was hooded and transferred to an unknown location where he was kept for three days.
He said later he had filed a lawsuit against the alleged kidnappers, as instructed by Karadzic - a move seen as an attempt to postpone Karadzic's extradition to The Hague as long as possible.
time.
But Karadzic's secret life is slowly being pieced together.
