In 1586, Sir Francis Drake attacked and destroyed the Spanish held city of Saint Augustine. At the time, Spain and England were in a constant tug of war to control the New World and as importantly, trade. Saint Augustine, the longest continuously occupied city in the US, is famous for its old streets, history of piracy, and the battles that took place to control its strategic location.
