France Holds Second Round of Polls, Le Pen's Far-Right Party Eyes Power
France is holding the second round of legislative elections following the first round on June 30. Le Pen’s far-right National Rally (RN) party surged in the first round, marking the first time since World War II. Final opinion polls also show the RN party leading with 170-210 seats, while the leftist New Popular Front (NFP) could secure 145-185 seats. Opinion polls predict 118-150 seats for French President Macron's Centrist alliance out of a total of 577. The surge of the far-right could potentially result in France's youngest Prime Minister, Jordan Bardella, protege of Le Pen and RN party chief at 28 years old. Experts predict a hung assembly in France, with the RN failing to reach the majority mark of 289 seats.
