Odeta Qafoku, a soil and geochemist at the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory, studies organic–mineral interactions using methods that extend from the nano- to macroscale, studying iron mineral transformations induced by reductive reactions, and studying mineral weathering as a function of biological inputs and environmental changes. She also applies electron microscopy to study reactivity and transformation at reaction boundaries.
