In Thermopiles, central Greece, a community school has been created for refugee children has been in operation since October 2016. UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, with the support of the European Commission, provided all the required school materials: stationary, flip charts, books, bags. Children are taught Arabic, Mathematics and English by teachers, some of them refugees themselves. Having left insecurity behind and after happily returning to classes, the young students have now also begun Greece’s official school curriculum.
