This DIY push pin wall map was inspired because our family loves traveling but I couldn’t think of a way to showcase our travels other than photos. I saw the canvas push pin maps you can buy and fell in love with that idea but not $250 price tag. So I figured with Matt’s help we could make our own version of that for a much smaller price. We used as much as possible around our home without having to go buy more items which would add cost. Besides our time into the project we had probably around $30 into the map. The only possible drawback is the map is laminated so there is glare but it really doesn’t bother us. I also noticed on Amazon this map sells out every now and then so you have to regularly check for it to come into stock because they don’t last long. Besides Amazon you can check out National Geographic’s website for maps too. There are plenty of styles and sizes of maps to pick from.
After using multi colored push pins on this particular map we bought, we found that black stands out best on the map from a distance and switched over to all black for labeled travel destinations we have been to.
