Paulette Ramsay, Professor at The University of the West Indies, is the author of two novels that document the correspondence between a mother who has migrated to England as part of the Windrush generation and her daughter in Jamaica.
In this video, Paulette answers the following questions:
– What inspired you to write the books?
– Why did people come to Britain?
– Considering the hardships that people faced, why did they not return to Jamaica? What made them stay?
– What other options, apart from coming to the UK, did people have?
– If the Windrush generation could do it all again, would they?
