Have you ever been in Portugal and NOT had a Portuguese Custard Egg Tart? Shamefully, thats me and I missed out on these INSANELY DELICIOUS treats. Called Pastel de Nata, I have been craving them ever since.
To make your own, what you'll need is plenty of flour, sugar, egg yolk, milk cinnamon and butter and a muffin tray and you should be ready to start.
You'll want to break this down to two parts: the pastry dough and the custard.
Start the pastry dough first so you can have it set aside in the fridge overnight. Move onto the custard, ensuring you add just the right amount of cinnamon for maximum tastiness. The goal is always to achieve flakey crust...... If you don't succeed, try and enjoy them, regardless.
