The Hungarian invasion of Yugoslavia in April 1941 was part of the broader Axis campaign to dismember and conquer Yugoslavia during World War II. On April 6, 1941, Germany launched Operation Marita, its invasion of Yugoslavia and Greece. The Hungarian forces were under the command of General Vilmos Nagy. The Hungarian military operations in Yugoslavia were primarily focused on capturing territories that had significant Hungarian populations and securing key positions for future territorial gains. The Hungarian forces faced limited resistance from the Yugoslav army, as it was already dealing with German and Italian offensives in other parts of the country. The Yugoslav army's resistance crumbled quickly, and within a few days, Hungarian troops occupied significant portions of northern Yugoslavia.
