8.48pm the Hardwicke's Woolly bat (Kerivoula hardwickii) pup emerges from the ginger (Boesenbergia sp) cone and flies away, in lowland rainforest, Mulu National Park and World Heritage site, Sarawak, Malaysia. Note the bat pup is smaller and a greyer than the brown adult. Also, the bats were not radio tagged so we have no way of knowing if this is the pup’s first flight or if it was the same adult bat visiting the cone each time.
