We’ve spent £2 million restoring the iconic 16 arch Westfield viaduct to its former glory.
Straddling the Avon River on the border for West Lothian and Falkirk it stands at 60 feet and remains a prominent featured in the landscape. Despite the Railway line closing in 1964.
Our work included repairs to the stone arches, waterproofing and the installation of bat boxes – further enhancing their existing habitat.
Refurbishment of the structure not only maintains its safety but makes plans to reopen the viaduct for pedestrians, cyclists, and other users a real possibility.
Westfield is one of 3100 former railway structures maintained by National Highways on behalf of owners, the Department for Transport.
