Dry or chapped lips is a very frequent problem in young people and it is also a problem for people who are on medicine for acne like roacutane or isotretinoin. One of the things that happen with chapped lips is that people try to lick their lips to hydrate lips. Remember your saliva has enzymes to digest food. So similarly it is going to digest the skin of the lips and it is actually going to make the dryness worse and worse. Instead invest in a good lip balm. Even a plain petroleum jelly will do. Reapply it frequently at least 10 times a day. Every time you feel the dryness coming even before dryness comes. Drinking plenty of water, 10 to 15 glasses of water a day. Using regular home cures like application of ghee or butter will also help to soothe the lips and bring it down. Don’t peel off the lips. Use a scrub. Don’t use harsh cosmetics or chemical-based cleansers on the lips during the time the lips are chapped. If with these changes your lips are not better then seek time to see a dermatologist who can see if there is a any eczema process in the lips and then they can actually suggest some creams to help you with the eczema part.
