They come in all shapes and sizes: old wives' tales, popular misconceptions, encoded messages, hidden cities, secret societies, supernatural oddities, paranormal occurrences, ghosts, cryptids, and more. The concept of an urban legend seems straight forward, but how does one define an urban legend? How do they differ from myths and folktales of bygone ages? Where do they come from and how do they spread so fast?
