In 2005, Laurie Lee (CARE International) was the Prime Minister’s Foreign Policy Adviser on Development, and Kirsty McNeill (Save the Children) was on the board of Make Poverty History – a global anti-poverty movement that campaigned on trade, debt and aid.
This talk marks ten years on from the Make Poverty History campaign and the 31st G8 Summit at Gleneagles where world leaders agreed to double aid to Africa and eliminate outstanding debts of the poorest countries. Join Laurie and Kirsty as they share the inside story of the unprecedented public mobilisation on global poverty, and an unprecedented political attempt to do something about it.
This is the first in a new programme of talks on the history of change and what we can learn from the past. You can tweet and post about the series using #changehistory
An accompanying blog post by Kirsty McNeill is available on Global Dashboard: [ Ссылка ]
