Originally released in August 1972, this week's "Remake of a Classic" is none other than Seals and Crofts' timeless hit, Summer Breeze. That same year it reached No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US, and in 2013 it was ranked No. 13 in Rolling Stone′s "Best Summer Songs of All Time" (I'm trying to think of twelve other tunes about summer,...I didn't see the article).
Interestingly (to me, anyway) on the original version it sounds like they used one of those toy pianos a lot of us had when we were kids. I tried to find one, but no such luck (and I didn't want to fork out the cash for one, so I just tweaked a 'honky tonk' piano sound I already had).
Those with a keen eye for detail will notice that I'm one drum down from my usual set up. That's because, for no reason at all, my 10" snare pad just stopped working...so I had to use one of the 8" tom pads in its place. Also, there are a few cymbal crashes the cymbal triggers didn't pick up. I've written to Alesis about it...these are less than a year old, and shouldn't be crapping out this soon. We'll see. Anyway, enjoy!
