This short clip provides basic instruction and key points for improving the high elbow catch in freestyle swimming using the Vasa Trainer.
The Catch: Keep the elbow high (High Elbow Catch) and imagine reaching over a barrel
Mid-Stroke: Fingers point toward floor, fingertips to elbow crease as a rigid "blade," elbows point out toward side (avoid dropped elbows)
The Finish: Push hand through to hip, palm of hand faces back, fingers point toward floor
Recover: Lead with elbow, catch with opposite hand
