This talk is about smart media. What is smart media? New ways to look at old methods. With DesignLab and smart media, McKenzie draws on contemporary and historical examples of smart media, introduces some of their new design frameworks, and discusses how DesignLab approaches new methods in a creative way.
I teach media design and performance theory and direct DesignLab, a media design consultancy in the UW Libraries. My performance research explores post-ideational, transdisciplinary thinking—thinking beyond the book and academy—and the practices and infrastructures that sustain it. At UW, I led the digital humanities initiative that produced DesignLab, Digital Salon, Media Studios, and the Digital Studies certificate program, and I helped organize Design Summits 1, 2, and 3. I am the author of Perform—or Else: From Discipline to Performance and co-editor of Contesting Performance: Global Sites of Research.
This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at [ Ссылка ]
