I was super happy to participate in this year's Walk to Feed the Hungry in 2016. BGR is one of the only - perhaps the only? - large charity organization run by Buddhists in the USA. They are a thoughtful, compassionate, impactful organization that raises money for food relief programs all over the world. Because they are volunteer run, almost all of the money raised goes directly to programs, with very little given to overhead or maintenance of the organization.
We Buddhists are a tiny religious minority in the United States, only about %.07 percent of the population. I think it is more important than ever that we share our religion with our neighbors. Compassion for all sentient beings, regardless of religious outlook, nationality, or any other distinction, is a core part of my Buddhist practice.
This walk was a wonderful way to express this belief. I hope you enjoy!
