Here I demonstrate playing over Lydian on the Alto Saxophone. I only use the diatonic notes of the scale, try to get as much mileage out of the diatonic scale before you start altering the scale or doing enclosures (We'll talk about enclosures in as future video). Two concepts I mention are -
1) Triad Pairs - Major triads off of the one and two of the scale. For C Lydian I'm doing C Major Triad (C E G) and D Major Triad (D F# A). All of these notes together outline Lydian very well.
2) Minor Pentatonic off of the 7th. For C Lydian I am playing B minor Pentatonic (B D E F# A). These notes translate to becoming the 7, 9, 3, #11, and 13 of the scale, all great notes over Lydian.
Let me know if you have any questions, good luck!
