During the Gulf War in 1991, coalition forces bombed Highway 80, targeting the retreating Iraqi forces. Hundreds of vehicles were destroyed and an unknown number of Iraqis were killed in the attack. Many claim the attack was a war crime or at the very least disproportional in it's nature due to the Iraqi Army being on the run. I examine these claims provide you my opinion based on my analysis of international law and what occurred on the so called "Highway of Death".
