This Morning 21/7/2021: How to cope in the heatwave.
The UK has been issued a “Extreme Heat” warning by the Met office and this can cause health problems for so many people. I join Ruth and Eamon to discuss who is at risk and what we can do to be safer in this heat.
I highlighted that if you are experiencing perimenopausal or menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes or night sweats the heat can be particularly problematic.
Here is how to cope with hot flushes in the heatwave:
- decrease intake of caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods & refined sugars
-stop smoking
- plenty of hydration
-sleep with a fan, cotton clothes, cold packs
- acupuncture
- consider taking Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) or adjusting your current dose to help control the flushes
-taking selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI) to help with flushes & sleep
