This is my father's Stanley Bailey No. 6 wood plane. It was manufactured at the Stanley plant in the 1930's in Roxton Pond, Quebec Canada. I have never used this plane, so the shavings you see stuck in the blade are from when my father last used it. I don't recall seeing him use it much when I was young, but I assume it got plenty of use back when wood came in rough cut form. The way I was able to date it was due to the kidney shape slot that holds the blade in place. It was brought into the design in 1933. The "Bailey" name was forged into the base up until WW2, not after.
