The third of my recordings of Fischer’s Suites. Around 1738, J.C.F Fischer published a collection of harpsichord works entitled: “Musikalischer Parnassus”. It contains nine suites, each one dedicated to one of the nine muses of classical antiquity. This third suite is dedicated to Melpomène, the muse of Tragedy.
I recorded these Fischer suites playing my “real” harpsichord (as opposed to a digital keyboard using harpsichord sound samples) some twenty years ago. It was a copy by the Neupert firm of an original made by F.E. Blanchet in 1737.
